Converting existing fields

To help you upgrade your previously defined user demographics, use the iMIS templates that model the Name_Demo table.  A set of window templates is also included to help you view or modify the data.

To convert pre-3.2x C/S versions

To help you upgrade your previously defined user demographics, iMIS includes templates that model the Name_Demo table that was provided with versions before 3.2x. A set of window templates is also included to help you view or modify the data.

MSSQL Only

If you have a database with existing data, you can load these templates, confirm they are working as expected, and proceed with your customizations. These templates are provided in four *.tab files and define the old 66-column Name_Demo table, as well as a set of three predefined windows. After you confirm that the templates are working, you can rename the UF_* fields to more meaningful field names and define new windows to edit this data.

To convert iMIS LAN demographics

Most sites will want to take advantage of the enhanced custom demographics in iMIS, which will involve mapping old UF_* fields onto newly built tables of custom fields with logical field names. If this is your situation, build your custom tables first, then map your old UF_* fields from the Name file to your custom tables during conversion.

However, you may have such a complex structure in your iMIS LAN demographic fields that you want to bring all the fields over intact. If so, you can use any of four *.tab files that ship with iMIS to create UD tables in the old format, replicating the iMIS LAN demographics table structure and windows:

ud_table.tab
